And, there are also many ways in which you receive this essential, but hard to grasp aspect of yourself. Here’s some of the most common receiving methods.
I think of my intuition as more of a voice, something I tune into, because I am primarily an auditory person. For me, hearing something makes it more real and understandable. In that way, I receive my Wise Voice as a thought that contains words and I hear it in the way that I hear all my other self talk. However, my wise intuitive voice has completely different qualities than my regular everyday chatty (and sometimes negative) voices.
The other way that I and others often receive intuitive information can be through physical sensations in the body. For example, I think about what I want to eat for lunch and when I think pizza (what my mind wants), my stomach does a little nauseous flip. OK, not pizza. Better listen to the body and the gut feeling signals it’s sending me.
A large preponderance of the population are visual folks, meaning processing and learning happens best when there’s an image or visual reference as a guide. While I don’t often get images or pictures when I’m receiving intuitive information, many women do.
This can show up, for example, as receiving an internal flash of an image as an answer to a problem or question, or imagining the face of a friend when the phone rings.
This way of receiving your inner voice is a very experiential phenomenon of simply knowing something to be the right or best for you. There’s not a lot of words, or sensations, or images – you just know.
How this one has shown up for me has been related a lot to where I live. It has always been easy for me to walk into a structure and know very clearly if this is the place for me. I just know. And, since I’ve moved over 40 times in my life, this has come in very handy.
I recently asked about how women receive inner wisdom on my FaceBook page and here’s a couple of examples that might be helpful
Mandy said: Last week at the grocery store I thought, “I should buy those adult Band-Aids.” I didn’t. I thought about the zillions of cartoon ones, and thought, “we have enough.” A few days later I fell and massively skinned my knee. (added by Catherine – and had to wear cartoon Band-Aids!)
Carol said: My wise woman tells me I’m on the right track with tears when it’s something important and a kind of internal klunk for the not so important. Am also learning that sometimes my resistance is my wise woman and sometimes not. Still learning to tell them apart!
Naomi said: The other day I actually heard words – very quietly and very definitely “from within”. Beautiful words: Stop trying – be happy! I’m now trying it out. it’s wonderful.
How do you receive your Wise Voice, your inner guidance? Is there anything that gets in your way? Leave a comment – really I want to know your experience.
