Whether or not you’re an Oprah fan, this little 5 minute video snippet is one of the most important things I think you can ever hear put into words. It’s from The Oprah Show finale and is magnificently truthful and inspiring.
Please watch and then come back here. OK?
Oprah’s wise words:
You’ve got a purpose and a calling
Get it? And, whatever that purpose is, if you’re not living it, then you’re not living you. You know your purpose when you feel like you can’t NOT do or be something, or when something feels so incredibly right that it’s like a second skin.
The thing about purpose is that it is likely something that is so second nature to you that you may miss it completely. As Oprah says, don’t mix up your purpose with fame, or making a big splash. Your purpose and calling may be quiet and small, but it’s important nonetheless.
Live from the heart of yourself
While you may need education or training to carry out your purpose, it likely isn’t something you think yourself into. Nor, is it something that others’ choose for you.
Your purpose and calling comes from you, your heart.
You have your own platform
Your platform is the reach that you have. And, you don’t have to be famous, or be a global super star to have an effect in your purpose.
Who are those you touch with your purpose? Your family, friends, community, clients? The size of your platform is irrelevant to the importance of your calling.
Your life speaks for you and shows the world who you are
You are showing yourself everyday by the way you live your life. Will you have any regrets about how you lived when you get to your end? Are you happy with the way you are representing yourself in the world now?
Be you. Be courageous in honoring your calling and what it has to offer.
Embrace your true life calling and use your life to serve the world
When you are truly yourself, you honor your gifts and your weaknesses, and you act upon the purpose and calling that is uniquely yours, then you serve both yourself and the world.
Living from your purpose serves the world in a way that only you can do. And the world will miss you if you don’t show up!
My purpose and calling
I am clear that my purpose is to learn as much as I can about being an evolved human and then to share and teach.
What about you? Do you know what your purpose is? Do you feel what you are called to do?
How do you express that calling? And, if you don’t express it, what keeps you from doing so.
Please leave a comment. I’d really like to know more about your purpose and calling.
